Rivers

One of Karuizawa’s famous rivers, the Yukawa, also plays host to our nature tours “Yukawa” translated into English, means “hot water river.” The water of the river is not actually hot but the name instead comes from the fact that the river appears to steam in winter. This phenomenon occurs as a result of the temperature difference between the river water and the cold winter air.
