Coastal Area
Coastal areas are an important habitat for wildlife such as shorebirds, egg-laying turtles and crustaceans. On most of the island’s beaches, the sand originates from degraded coral reefs and is therefore whitish in colour and very fine. Sunrise and sunset over these areas provides some of the most stunning scenery on the island.
