Marine life
From the ocean to the many rivers criss-crossing the island, you will find an amazing set of life under water. Green sea turtles and manta rays are major attractions for divers in addition to the colourful reefs and tropical fish. The rivers are greatly influenced by the tides and thus most of the fish inhabiting them are peripheral fresh water fish or diadromous fish. Urauchi River, the longest in Okinawa, supports over 400 species of fish in its brackish water area lined with mangrove forest.
