Reptiles & Amphibians
On Iriomote island there are 24 native species of reptiles and 8 species of amphibians, each adapted to their own specific niche. Some are adapted to an arboreal lifestyle for instance such as the Okinawa tree lizards and Eiffinger’s tree frog while others prefer ground habitats such as the vulnerable Kishinoue giant skink.
